Design Polish

Victorian house furnished using quirky mix of antique, ethnic and contemporary furniture.

The house belongs to Polish interior designer Mirka McNeill-Farmer and her English film producer husband. One of her recent projects in Warsaw has just been published in the Andrew Martin Interior Design Revue 2008. Mirka has papered single walls in the living room, kitchen and bedroom using the same Fornasetti design, creating a visual theme linking the three main living areas. Walls in the two other bedrooms are also papered. Other features include using mirrored surfaces of 'letters' and the cube side tables to play visual tricks with the limited floorspace in the sitting room, hanging bubble chair in the bay window of bedroom, Kartell table lamps and unusual florescent pendant lights in two bedrooms. Kitchen table was made using Rajahstani architectural wood carving, bench is Polish antique, restored by Mirka and upholstered in zebra-printed hide.
