The Art of Fabric

English south coast 17th century restoration

Richard is an English fabric designer and his partner a fine art consultant. They saw a handsome but ruined old house close to the English south coast while out walking one day. Eventually it was to be sold at auction and the pair were able to buy it and tackle the process of restoration. First built in the 17th century and extended several times it not only has one of the best locations imaginable, but the rooms are large, the elegant windows make it light and there was plenty of space for a design studio, office and 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Although not interior designers the owners have pooled their talents, used their favourite colours and of course the interesting and beautifully designed fabrics (and silver wallpaper) throughout the house are the owners own designs for among others, Jim Thompson and Warners. All the paint colours are by Farrow & Ball.
