Grade II listed house in Surrey designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens

London architectural designer John Minshaw relishes describing the complex restoration and decoration project he began in fashionable Surrey 4 years ago; one where he continues to advise his client on the acquisition of art and furniture. “It is rare, challenging and exciting to work on such a major project, particularly as it included a substantial ‘new build’ element,” he says. The Grade II listed house was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, considered to be the greatest English architect of his time. He began practising at the age of 20 in 1889 going on to build over 30 major country houses and altered or added to many more. He collaborated closely with the great garden designer and plantswoman, Gertrude Jekyll, together creating over 100 gardens, many of which survive.
