Soane-inspired

Magnificent London house inspired by architect Sir John Soane.

Behind the existing facade, this magnificent, London house was completely rebuilt by its architect owner, an admirer of the 18th century architect Sir John Soane. Apart from the fireplaces, the house incorporates Soane-inspired features including the symmetrical arrangements within many of the rooms, the cantilevered stone staircase which rises in a graceful elliptical curve through five floors, the open vista across the stairwell, and the light-reflecting mirror panels set into the dressing room wardrobes. In the dining room, a Russian chandelier was the starting point of the decorative scheme which includes an antique Italian gilded sunburst mirror
